Moore Blatch secures beauty compensation claim
Leading law firm Moore Blatch has recently seen a significant rise in the number of clients pursuing compensation claims against companies which manufacture beauty products.
The firm’s specialist 35-strong personal injury team based in Southampton has successfully dealt with some six claims over the past few months – a figure which is continuing to rise.
More recently the team has clinched a compensation claim against Procter & Gamble after its client, Jacqueline Hinds, experienced a sudden reaction to the Clairol ‘Nice n’ Easy’ Root Touch Up hair colourant manufactured by the firm.
Simon Pimlott for Moore Blatch said: “Jacqueline has been using this product for nearly 30 years and has never experienced any kind of reaction. On this particular occasion, having carefully followed the user instructions, she experienced a sudden reaction, causing considerable skin irritation, swelling to her face and hair loss.
“The incident was reported to Procter & Gamble by Jacqueline but the company failed to make an offer of compensation. That was when we stepped in. Following our instruction we submitted a letter of claim and within two weeks Procter & Gamble responded with an offer of settlement.”
If people have suffered injury following exposure to a defective product it is essential that they consult a specialist solicitor and expert medical evidence is obtained. In many cases people are keen to ensure others are made aware of the defective product and that change will occur as a result.
The Moore Blatch team is well-placed to help with these cases and offers a free assessment of any claim and offer funding on a ‘no win – no fee’ basis.
Jacqueline Hinds said: “I had been using this product for many years and I had built up a trust and loyalty with the manufacturer. I was devastated by what happened to me and I am desperate to prevent this happening to anyone else. I had no joy in pursuing the manufacturer myself and I was basically being ignored. It all really took its toll on me and I realised that I needed a professional legal team to help me pursue a claim.
“The Moore Blatch team were fantastic. They took the heat out of the situation and removed the massive burden from my shoulders. They were professional throughout every stage of the negotiations and as a result of the team’s determination and efficiency I received an offer in just two weeks. I would not hesitate in recommending Moore Blatch to anyone.”
The Consumer Protection Act 1987 grants rights on consumers to seek damages where they have suffered injury due to the use of the product which caused a reaction which would not be expected from every day use. The law seeks to ensure that when we buy or use any products we should be able to expect certain high standards to have been used in the manufacture and packaging of the products.
The Moore Blatch personal injury team deals with a whole host of compensation claims for clients injured using cosmetic and so-called beauty products, as well as problems from food causing salmonella and e-coli and medical devices, such as hip joints and heart valves.
