Transport company reputation maintained following public inquiry case
The company and its Transport Manager were called to a Public Inquiry before the Traffic Commissioner for not informing the Traffic Office of a change in the company’s legal status, for not employing a proper and verifiable maintenance system for its vehicles, and consequently the repute of the company and of the Transport Manager was called into question. We advised the company in relation to its practice and procedures, and arranged for a temporary professional Transport Manager to be engaged by the company and to implement new administrative procedures. The company faced losing its licence to operate and therefore faced closure. At the hearing submissions were made to the Traffic Commissioner who agreed to transfer the Operator’s Licence into the name of the new legal entity, to grant an increase on the licence for the number of vehicles and to allow the Transport Manager to attend a professional competence course, after which he could apply to be re-appointed as Transport Manager. The company kept its good repute.
