Successful rearrangement of the affairs of an elderly gentleman
An elderly gentleman, with no immediate family, approached us following his move into a care home. He had consolidated his finances following the sale of his home, but felt too frail to deal with the day-to-day administration of his affairs. We recommended that we draft lasting powers of attorney for the gentleman to appoint us, Moore Blatch, as his attorneys. We were then able to put in place a full administration service, checking that he was receiving the correct state benefits and care funding and arranging payment of his care fees and incidentals each month, as indeed we still do. We also continue to look after his investments, using independent financial advisers to advise on the best investments to provide sufficient income to cover his care fees. We provide a regular update to the gentleman on his affairs and, looking ahead, in the event of any medical or welfare event, or hospital admission, we will be able to make decisions on his behalf. The gentleman has now settled into his new home and has the peace of mind that his affairs are being handled professionally.
