Arrangement of care assessment results in full NHS funding for care of client's wife
An elderly gentleman approached us following his wife's admission to hospital, due to a fall. She was diagnosed as being in the advanced stages of dementia and the hospital wanted to discharge her, so she could be cared for at home by her husband. The husband was concerned that he would not be able to cope with this, so he came to us for help. Our Court of Protection team was able to arrange for a continuing care assessment to be carried out for this wife, before she was discharged from hospital, and it became clear that she was in fact eligible to receive full NHS continuing care funding for her care. On our client's behalf, we visited various care homes to assess their suitability and to ensure they were conveniently located for visiting, as the husband did not have his own transport.
