Moore Blatch shortlisted in three Solent Deal Awards
If you have the characteristics we are looking for, we will provide the environment, encouragement and opportunities for you to flourish both personally and professionally.
We are one of the few law firms that can offer you a variety of ways to qualify. If you are commercially aware, have a positive approach to business development and have a good academic track record, then Moore Blatch could be right for you.
As a leading law firm, we look to recruit the very best talent and only offer places to those of the highest calibre. Restricting the number of trainees we take on means that if you train with us, you are more likely to secure a permanent post at the end of your training period. As a firm, we are keen to grow organically in addition to recruiting new talent.
When we recruit trainees, we have no stereotype in mind. We value and encourage applications from a wide variety of backgrounds.
To begin your professional development, these are some of the essential characteristics we look for:
Our trainees and young lawyers are supported by our Aspiring Lawyers Group which aims to create a network of younger lawyers looking to develop their careers who can share their ideas and experiences of career progression.
For more information visit our training programme section.
Training with us gives you the opportunity the opportunity to work right across the business, experiencing the full range of legal disciplines we cover.
You will benefit from a structured programme designed to provide you with the right experience, education, hands on involvement and support to prepare you for your career following qualification.
Your training will typically be organised as four seats, each lasting six months.
If you have worked for a number of years as a paralegal and know which area in which you wish to qualify, this route enables you to continue to work as a paralegal, build your experience and knowledge and continue to grow your career as a solicitor.
The Paralegal Equivalent Means Route was introduced in 2014 to support paralegals with years of experience, offering them an alternative route to qualification.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requires you to evidence that you have worked in three different areas for at least three months. You also need to provide a comprehensive portfolio of the work and experience you have gained over your time as a Paralegal.
‘I was the first at Moore Blatch to qualify this route. I had worked as a Paralegal in two other departments and found my niche in Major Trauma. Moore Blatch fully supported me to pursue this route and I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Paralegal/Trainee as I slowly built my caseload and have qualified into the area I wanted to grow my career in!’ – Eman Hassan
If you don’t have a university degree, want to study part time alongside your current job, or are looking for a flexible way to qualify, CILEx could be for you.
The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) offer “unparalleled” access to flexible careers in law and are one of the three core approved regulators of the legal profession alongside barristers and solicitors. CILEx is a professional association representing more than 20,000 trainee and practising Chartered Legal Executives. By being flexible, CILEx allows you to study part-time and still achieve qualification whilst in full-time employment.
CILEx provides you with a qualification in its own right (practising as a Chartered Legal Executive) but also provides a pathway to qualification as a solicitor. It is the only route which does not require you to have a university degree in order to qualify. They offer many different types of courses which include introductory courses, single subjects and specialist pathways.
‘The flexible nature of CILEx allowed me to study alongside working full-time, which was essential. Also, the SRA recognises the qualifying employment undertaken to become a Chartered Legal Executive provides the same training requirements as a traditional training contract. As I am already working in the department I would like to continue in post qualification, this was the obvious route for me to take. I have been very lucky that Moore Blatch is continuing to fully support me through my studies with advice and the flexibility needed to progress my career.’ – Callum Leary
