Claims for prison officers

As with all workplaces, your employer has a legal duty to protect you from accidents that could occur.

Even those amongst us that work in higher risk industries should be protected from injuries caused by negligence.

Prison officers are not only at risk from more traditional workplace incidents but can also be at risk from inmates in their care.

If you have either not received the proper training to handle such situations, or were not informed of an inmate’s history and have subsequently suffered an injury as a result of an inmate’s behaviour, you could be entitled to compensation.
