Welding illness

During the welding process fumes are emitted which can cause serious health issues, mainly to the respiratory system.

Your employer has a duty to ensure that the appropriate safety equipment and training is provided. Conditions and illnesses caused by welding can include:

  • Chronic bronchitis

  • Occupational asthma

  • Metal fume fever

  • Welders siderosis (or Welder’s Lung)

  • Manganism

Prolonged exposure to these toxic fumes can also increase the risk of lung cancer.

Reaching a favourable outcome is of the utmost importance to our personal injury team. We utilise a wealth of knowledge, skills and resources to take an assertive stance in advocating for your best interests.
