Pride and Prejudice – Marriage in Modern Times

In an international divorce, if a child is taken abroad without the other parent’s consent or kept abroad for longer than agreed, this amounts to child abduction.
This can happen because parents take matters into their own hands, sometimes out of desperation. However difficult the circumstances, it is still an offence and if it’s your child who is missing, you will want urgent legal support.
Where the country to which the child has been taken is covered by EU rules or the Hague Convention on Child abduction, then securing their safe return should be easier as the country’s governments, police forces and legal system will all work closely together. Some other countries not covered by these agreements will still cooperate, but unfortunately others are not so helpful. In these circumstances, English lawyers will need to work quickly and closely with lawyers in the other country, to put pressure on the courts to ensure your child is brought home.
We have many expert solicitors who we work with in this area, who can support us in providing urgent assistance to bring your child or children safely home.
