I am a partner in the firm’s community care and public law team, providing a range of services designed to meet the needs of adults and children with health and social care needs, and their carers.
My clients are often the most vulnerable in our society, the elderly, disabled or children. They frequently need help accessing NHS and social care services to ensure they have all necessary support and assistance either at home or in a residential care environment, not only to cope with the aftermath of an accident, disability or illness but to maximise their quality of life.
I help my clients by challenging decisions made by public bodies including the NHS and Social services through internal complaints procedures, appeals and where necessary, court action.
My clients often need help to obtain the right care package to meet their care needs and to secure respite care, make adaptations to their home, access social housing, care home placements, obtain aids and equipment and to ensure they receive the right medical treatment and care. I have the legal expertise and experience to help with all these issues, providing advice and practical support throughout.
In addition to my community care practice I remain a member of the clinical negligence team having undertaken clinical negligence for more than 20 years.
My clients need help from someone who understands their difficulties and can offer real solutions with practical clear advice, a detailed knowledge and obtain a good outcome. They expect me to be involved in all aspects of the work and to be at the end of the phone when they need me.
Paula is brilliant at generating new work and winning impossible cases. She is good at getting funding from local authorities and she is a genius when it comes to fighting for housing and social sevices for injured and disabled clients. She runs national campaigns and lectures, and I think she is a go-to person for diasabled people looking to access rights from local authorities. She never gives up, is very kind and a real fighter. We can only thank her for her outstanding support and professionalism." A private client
