- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Care fees
I am a partner in the firm’s Court of Protection team, looking after the interests of vulnerable people. I work with elderly people and where appropriate their carers, helping them deal with the issues that arise in later life.
My clients value the advice and support I provide to them to ensure their wishes are met both now and in the future. Typically this covers diverse issues such as provision of care, medical treatment, discharge from hospital and care fees. I also assist them in dealing with their property and financial affairs.
I take time to understand my clients’ needs and concerns and then advise them on the most appropriate options. Once agreed, I put in place the necessary arrangements and legal structures, often involving Powers of Attorney or Deputyships, trusts and wills.
This is a highly specialised area of law, requiring not only expert legal advice but also the ability to understand the emotional issues that arise. It is important that my client is able to make an educated decision. I pride myself on providing a highly personalised service and I often find myself supporting families and individuals over many years, developing a close relationship.
My aim is to ensure that my clients are able to achieve what they want to in the simplest manner possible.
I was born in Hampshire and have spent most of my adult life here. As a child I moved around with my parents and spent most of my childhood on Dartmoor and the North Cornish Coast. I went to university in Aberystwyth which with my love of the sea was a wonderful three years. Outside work I like to read, eat and go to the cinema.
